SR SEO Tip: Don’t be Obsessed with PageRank

PageRank (PR) is used by Google to measure the importance of a web page. Google ranks pages from a scale of1 to 10, with 10 being the highest quality and possibility. The higher the PR the more authoritative the page is, and it has a better chance for ranking higher on Google. It is important to note that PR is calculated per web page not for the full site. For example: www.site.com could have a PR of 3 but www.site.com/subpage1.html could have a PR of 0.

PR is not the only factor for having a higher search result on Google, so don’t be obsessed by it. It is just a small part of the ranking algorithm. There are many sites with a lower PR that rank higher on Google’s results pages than sites with a higher PR.
