Turning Over a New Leaf: 6 Changes Affiliates Can Apply in 2012 – Part 1

The start of every year presents a deep motivation to apply new strategies to help grow our bottom lines. If you are an affiliate looking for trends and ideas on how to change your business for the better this year, here is the first of a three-part blog series on six actionable changes you can apply to your business in 2012, which will hopefully result in greater prosperity.

#1: Get Rid of the Clutter
It sounds simple, but if you are in too many meetings with too many affiliate managers, have too many creative on a page, and too many inner pages on your website, this is the time to reassess your affiliate marketing strategy. Get rid of the clutter in your life. Try focusing on no more than three hours a week for meetings. Try ridding your site of multiple affiliate tracking links and focus on hosting only the ones that are proven to convert, as well as new similar offers that can complement your campaigns. If you are redesigning your website, now is the time to consolidate your content. Make it shorter. Or, try publishing only relevant information on fewer pages. You have less than 365 days to get your work done effectively. Less is more, and better in the long run.

#2: Create a Presentation about You
A presentation about what your affiliate marketing business is all about can work wonders for your potential partnerships. Whether it is a video or a PowerPoint presentation, create a simple overview about your business. As a guideline for PowerPoints, try using what is known as the 10-20-30 rule as a starting point, and see how people respond. Use it during one-on-one business meetings, at conferences and other offline events, or when you are spontaneously asked by a client to provide a quick intro about what your company does.

Stay tuned for part two and three of this blog. We’d love to hear your thoughts. Tell us what changes you will be applying to your business in 2012 via the comments section below.
