#5: Make Data Work for You

Many people in digital marketing think that a report is the solution to their problems, but this is just scratching the surface. This year, try looking at the more detailed information in your reports to tailor your campaigns, and if need be, have more than one report to measure the multiple types of information needed for your affiliate business. Also, instead of trying to find the customers for your website, tailor your campaigns to the customers that like you best. You can’t be all things to all people, but you can be something special to the right target.

#6: Drilling Down Search By Local Results

This final point ties into #5. Pew Internet reports that about 36% of adults rely on search engines for information about local businesses other than restaurants and bars. This means your affiliate site as a local business is very relevant and should be ranking for keywords related to your campaign, and local search. Moreover, your visitors are very likely to be looking for you on their mobile phones just as much as they are looking for you via their desktops. Social Local Mobile or SoLoMo is a major marketing trend that many professionals are already paying attention to and will continue to do so in 2012. For the sake of your affiliate business, we recommend that you do the same to help profit in the new year.

We hope you found these suggestions helpful, but we’d still like to hear your thoughts on changes you will be applying to your affiliate marketing business in the new year. Leave us a comment in the section below. You can also carry on the discussion by following us on Facebook or Twitter.
